Fast football players 💨 (Edition #10)

They are really fast! 😮

Today I had to make a couple of editions due to the one I’ve missed yesterday. Not to make you read a lot, decided to make one of the posts quite short, but still really interesting.

What are the quickest football players currently and how quickly they can run - this is the question I’m going to answer in this edition.

P.S. Due to the limitations of this platform, I am unable to post twice in 12 hours period so this email is sent very early on Sunday.

Fast players making the difference

Football is one of the games where speed can make a huge difference. The fast players are a true nightmare for defenders.

If you remember an amazing goal scored by Gareth Bale when he has overtaken one of Barcelona's players by going out of the field and putting the ball to the next with a tricky kick. It was truly an iconic moment that clearly shows the importance of quick legs.

There are a few players that show impressive speed who play nowadays. Let’s reveal who they are.

For clarity, I am not going to use the term “fastest” because the data around the internet can be easily disputed and there is no consensus on how to calculate the speed and who the fastest is.

Antonio Rudiger - 36.72 km/h

The Premier League officially claims that the fastest player ever recorded in the history of this league was Antonio Rudiger playing for Chelsea at the time (now Real Madrid).

Karim Adeyemi - 36.65 km/h

Young talent currently playing at Borussia Dortmund has broken the record this season in a match against Freiburg.

It’s reported that Karim has managed to reach 36.65 km/h. This 21-year-old player also is a member of the German national team. I believe he’s going to break more records in the future.

Mykhailo Mudryk - 36.63 km/h

This 22-year-old Ukrainian talent broke the English Premier League record for the 2022/2023 season by reaching jaws dropping 36.63 km/h.

The player currently is playing at Chelsea football club after a recent move from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Achraf Hakimi - 36.49 km/h

The player from Morocco, the team which performed really well in the latest World Cup 2022 surprised many football fans and experts worldwide.

Hakimi can reach a speed of up to 36.49 km/h. The record was set while the player was still playing in Bundesliga for Dortmund Borussia.

Achraf currently helps Paris Saint Germain together with another blazing-fast player Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe - 36 km/h

The superstar of Paris Saint Germain and the French national team shows impressive speed in almost every game he plays.

According to Ligue1, Mbappe has reached a top speed of 36 km/h. Also, it’s stunning how explosive he is and how quickly he can run away from defenders.

To compare these quick players with other football stars here are a few of them:

In comparison, the speed of Husain Bolt is 44.72km/h, while the average ground speed is 37.58km/h at the Olympics.

Furthermore, there are more players in between these listed, however, putting them all has no purpose. I just wanted to show how fast are the current football stars and compare how similar their records are.

Also, the stats vary depending on the league. Some records are pulled out of the Champions League, while others are from national championships. Once again, there is no consensus on how speed should be recorded.
